Well over one thousand units of condominiums and apartments have been built on the Midvale Slag site. Walking these sidewalks and streets can be a disquieting experience — often, nothing in sight is older than ten or fifteen years; the history is invisible, but just below the surface. At moments that hidden truth almost seems to pulse beneath my feet. As I walk, the vast desert sky above me and the secrets below combine to throw these ordinary views into sharp relief -- and turn them into something different. There is an uneasy tension between the seen and the unseen.
